Our Passion

Here at FotoGems we take great pleasure in bringing to life photographs of those very special occasions. Special photographs are easier when the client relationship is warm and relaxed which is why we value our subjects spending time with us so that we can pull the best images from them. It is also at this time we listen to what you really want rather than imposing our ideas although we will provide guidance of what normally works or not. This is also why we meet couples prior to their weddings so that the plans are finalised, the venues explored and as importantly, the couples can relax and trust us ready for their big day.

The greatest thrill of all is when we present you with your proofs, albums & portraits. Your faces tell us just how well we have done. We also feel really excited when “Happy e-mails or letters” arrive and contemplate another happy client.

Every commission receives individual attention as we build up the photography direction specifically to capture your occasion in the best possible manner. Just like you, every occasion is unique and so we adapt to your venue, characters and timescales. Photography is there to be enjoyed even if you think that you might be a little shy.

I am fortunate to have been involved in professional photography for over 20 years. The passion still grows as my wife Diane and myself explore new venues and clients. We work well together on location and with wedding enquiries, as Diane’s attention to detail has always been spot-on. Recently, Diane has started taking photographs at weddings on a support and reportage basis and I am a little jealous to admit that her work is blossoming which is why it is mainly her images contained in our gallery. My training must work?

Photographic Approach

Firstly, you the client are the most important ingredient in determining the style and range of photographs to be taken. We listen and learn in our passion to “paint a picture with light”.

Weddings are just one of the happiest days of your life and we consider ourselves privileged if you choose us to capture and share your day with you. Malcolm takes most of the formal photographs while Diane drifts around taking those reportage shots that can bring days to life in your album. We hope that we communicate well and help your day flow without the photography becoming intrusive and spoiling your enjoyment. Please let us take photography out of your “worry agenda” for your day.

Our studio and location work is also sensitive and relaxed, you have no idea how many times we hear “I don’t take a good photograph” or I don’t like my picture taken” so try and overcome your shyness by giving us a call.
